Artist Statement
I am a mixed media artist living in upstate New York, making paintings, collages, sculptural ceramics, and wall installations where I combine imaginative and observational elements that evoke dreamlike qualities. I combine figures, landscapes, and abstract patterns in my work. Similar to how a dream changes and remixes reality. Each medium contributes to conceptualizing and fleshing out ideas in the others. Disembodied arms and legs reach for the sky, distorted faces swirl in a patterned sky, frames envelop and become part of the inner world of the painting. By blending figures and landscapes, I emphasize our interconnectedness as human beings within the larger landscape. It serves as a reminder to me that we are all intertwined parts of a whole. The act of observing and interpreting the environment is central to my artistic process.
